The Beginning
Ti Amo, Italian for “I love you”, arrived in 2016 as part of Roja’s Profumi D’Amore collection. Master perfumer Roja Dove crafted the scent to celebrate love’s first breath, blending bright mandarin orange with bergamot and a bouquet of heliotrope, neroli, orange blossom, Grasse jasmine, lily of the valley, May rose and pineapple. The name reflects the perfume’s intent: an intimate, affectionate declaration that feels both fresh and deeply romantic. Opening with such crisp citrus energy, the fragrance immediately establishes a sense of joyful anticipation, like the flutter of a new romance. Mandarin and bergamot work in tandem to create a sparkling, luminous effect, their citrus brightness tempered by the subtle sweetness waiting in the wings.
What makes Ti Amo stand out is the daring mix of sweet fruit and powdery florals with a gourmand base. Pineapple adds a juicy sparkle that cuts through the classic white‑floral heart, while labdanum and ambergris give depth. The inclusion of chocolate and caramel‑like vanilla creates a warm, edible finish that feels like a dessert shared at sunset, turning the fragrance into a sensual, lingering embrace.
The Evolution
At first spray, mandarin orange and bergamot flash bright, a crisp, citrusy spark that awakens the senses. Within minutes the heart blooms: heliotrope’s powdery softness mingles with neroli’s bright green, while orange blossom, Grasse jasmine and lily of the valley lay a silky floral carpet, punctuated by pineapple’s tropical zing and May rose’s soft romance. As the composition settles, chocolate and ambergris emerge, deepening into a warm, spicy amber that clings to skin. The transition from bright citrus to rich floral is seamless, the pineapple note adding an unexpected tropical brightness that prevents the white florals from feeling heavy or cloying. Heliotrope brings its characteristic almond-like softness, which pairs beautifully with the creamier aspects of jasmine and the green freshness of neroli.
Cultural Impact
Since its 2016 debut, Ti Amo has drawn attention for its distinctive blend of citrus, white florals and gourmand warmth. It appears in discussions alongside other love-themed scents from the house, noted for its sillage and lasting impression. The fragrance’s mix of pineapple and chocolate creates an unexpected pairing that has captured the interest of fragrance enthusiasts. The composition brings together bright, effervescent top notes with a lush floral heart and a rich, enveloping base, creating a scent that feels both joyful and intimately romantic.
