The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Fresh was created by ZENTS co-founder Michelle Nemcek-Lobo and dedicated to her baby daughter. That origin story shapes everything about it, the delicacy, the quietness, the sense of simplicity. The brief apparently was not about trend or territory. It was about capturing something innocent and clean, then letting the wearer own skin chemistry take over. The result is a fragrance that behaves differently on everyone who wears it, blooming softly according to the body natural warmth and chemistry. On some skin, the scent opens with a bright citrus sparkle that fades quickly. On others, the green notes arrive first, lingering in a cool, watery presence before the drydown arrives.
The note combination here is unusual in a specific way: cucumber and heliotrope are not obvious partners. Cucumber is watery, almost medicinal in its coolness. Heliotrope is powdery, sweet, and softly floral. They shouldn't work together, but they do, creating something that feels both clinical and tender at once. The green apple and linden blossom add structure without weight, keeping the entire composition from settling into anything heavy or cloying. It's a study in restraint, in what a fragrance can be when it refuses to try too hard.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and brief, citrus and green apple arrive together, clear and sharp. Within minutes, both retreat. What replaces them is cucumber cool, watery presence before the composition shifts again. Heliotrope takes over in the drydown, powdery and warm, settling close to the skin. The entire arc is intimate, designed to be discovered rather than announced. On fabric, the citrus can linger for hours. On skin, it fades fast. That is the trade-off. By the time the heliotrope arrives, the fragrance feels less like a perfume and more like a memory of one. The cucumber note appears fresh and clean, almost dewy, providing a transitional coolness that bridges the bright opening to the warmer finish. Wearers describe the scent as evolving throughout the day, with different elements emerging depending on skin temperature and environment.
Cultural impact
Fresh offers something quieter, a clean, delicate scent designed to work with the body rather than announce itself. Wearers who appreciate it tend to value its subtlety and its gentle approach to fragrance. Some find it evokes the same freshness as more expensive niche options like Hermès Un Jardin Sur Le Nil, which also uses green cucumber as a central element. The fragrance occupies a space for those who prefer scents that remain close to the skin, allowing the wearer to be aware of the fragrance without projecting it outward. Its clean, green character appeals to those seeking something that feels natural and unobtrusive.
