The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Victorinox built its name on tools that work without ceremony. Wood arrives in 2022, created by perfumer Marypierre Julien, carrying that same straightforward approach. The brief reads simple on paper: woody-citrus, built for everyday wear. But simple is harder than it sounds. Julien made something that holds its shape without shifting into something unrecognizable. There's no ceremony here, no stunts. The materials do what they need to do, nothing more, nothing less.
The walnut wood in the heart is the tell. Walnut brings a drier, nuttier quality that gives the heart a distinctive character. The clary sage absolute reinforces that cool, herbal quality throughout the opening, while the lemon keeps everything bright and crisp. Benzoin and tree moss anchor the base with warmth and earthiness. The materials simply do their job. Nothing hidden, nothing performed.
The evolution
The opening is all citrus and herb, lemon sharp and bright, clary sage following close behind with its cool, herbal presence. Within minutes, the cedar and walnut wood push forward, taking the stage with a dry, warm presence that feels grounded. By the mid-stage, the benzoin begins its slow arrival, resinous and warm. Tree moss follows, adding an earthy, green undertone that keeps the drydown honest. The sillage settles close to the skin, moderate and well-behaved. What remains at the end is clean wood and citrus.
Cultural impact
Wood landed in 2022, a woody-citrus composition with a distinctive walnut wood heart that sets it apart from more traditional options. The dry, nutty quality gives it character without unnecessary complexity. It's a fragrance for someone who wants something clean and woody. Functional clarity, the kind of scent that works in a morning meeting and stays in the background.
