One reviewer has associated it with Portofino, but that connection isn't spelled out in the brand's own materials. What the formula delivers is something more concrete: a fresh-aquatic structure built around mineral accords, clean citrus, and a soft caramel-cedar base that reads more like a postcard than a traditional pyramid. The collection's stated intention is moments, not moods, and Splendido leans fully into that idea. The opening hits with a bright, almost saline clarity, the kind of cool transparency that suggests water and warm stone at the same time.
What makes Splendido interesting structurally is the balancing act between mineral notes and vanilla. Those two materials sit on opposite ends of the perfumer's spectrum: one cold and stony, one warm and edible. The tension between them stays unresolved in the best way, because the formula doesn't pick a winner. The caramel in the upper layers smooths the citrus, and the aquatic note keeps the sweetness from tipping into gourmand territory.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes are all spectacle: bergamot and grapefruit snap bright over a mineral-cold sea breeze note that feels almost ozonic. Caramel and basil thread through, keeping the citrus from reading sharp. By the 30-minute mark, the composition settles into its heart: magnolia and orange soften the edges, the aquatic note softens to something warmer, and vanilla starts pulling the whole thing toward skin. The cedar and vetiver in the base take their time showing up. Around hour three or four, the citrus is a memory, the sea breeze has receded, and what's left is a clean, warm musk-cedar drydown with just enough vanilla to remind you this was once something brighter. On fabric the next morning, you get the quiet ghost of the base, cedar and vetiver, close to the skin and surprisingly present.
