The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Pink PP began as a color. Pierpaolo Piccioli crafted that specific shade of pink for Maison Valentino's runway, a hue described as bold, playful, and irreplaceable. In 2023, Valentino Beauty brought Pink PP from the runway into fragrance, a limited-edition flanker to Born in Roma Donna that brings the color's energy alive on skin. The fragrance captures that unmistakable pink with a boldness that echoes its fashion origins, translating the vibrancy of the runway shade into a scent that makes a statement from the first spray.
Four perfumers contributed their expertise. Marie Salamagne, Honorine Blanc, Alberto Morillas, and Olivier Cresp built a pyramid of just three notes, Calabrian mandarin, orange blossom, bourbon vanilla, each layer amplifying the one before. The structure is almost aggressive in its simplicity. Most flankers pad their pyramid with plausible-sounding accords. This one doesn't need to. The orange blossom and bourbon vanilla carry the full weight of the idea. Madagascar bourbon vanilla brings a distinct smoky depth to the base, far from the flat vanillin extract in countless sweet newcomers.
The evolution
The opening is a quick spark. Green mandarin from Calabria arrives bright, almost tart. The citrus holds its ground before the orange blossom takes over, the floral sliding in smooth and cushioned without ever fighting the citrus. The heart brings sweet, creamy warmth that deepens before it fades, a deliberate pause before the base arrives. Then the bourbon vanilla settles in. Everything slows down. The drydown holds close, warm, and intimate for the final act, a barely-there sweetness that stays on skin like a secret kept too long. The vanilla's smoky depth anchors everything that came before, transforming the bright opening and soft heart into a unified, lingering warmth that clings close and personal.
Cultural impact
Pink PP joins a specific tradition of fashion-house flankers that started as color statements: the fragrance is the color. The limited-edition status means this one won't be around forever, and for anyone drawn to bold, unapologetic vanilla and orange blossom combinations, it represents a moment worth catching. It's the kind of release that sparks conversation, that makes you want to smell it for yourself before the window closes.
