White Croc landed in 2023 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression line, a collection that draws on recognizable designer compositions and reshapes them for the everyday fragrance wardrobe. The reference point here is Lacoste's L.12.12 White, that polo-shirt-clean archetype of fresh, sporty, easy-wearing masculine scent, and what makes this release worth noting is the format. The result is an Extrait de Parfum, not a casual spritz, a concentration that already signals something denser and more deliberate than the original's eau de toilette structure. It's a re-imagining that respects the source material's restraint while giving the softer materials room to breathe and the drydown permission to deepen into something more textured.
What's interesting here is the note architecture. Grapefruit and rosemary at the top are textbook L.12.12 territory, and the heart stacks ylang-ylang, tuberose, suede, and leather alongside cedar, layering textures that weren't in the original brief. The animalic undertone in the accord profile, that hint of musk and warmth underneath the clean surface, is what gives the composition its own identity within the Inspired Expression framework.
The evolution
The opening is all grapefruit and rosemary, bright and almost bracing. Cardamom threads underneath, warm but not sweet, more like the smell of spices left open in a sunlit kitchen. As the citrus starts to step back, the ylang-ylang and tuberose arrive, not in a white-floral way but in that creamy, almost banana-skin softness they get when they sit next to leather. The suede note becomes the main character here, soft, slightly powdery, like the inside of a favorite jacket. Eventually, the cedar and vetiver take over completely, and the animalic warmth underneath becomes more noticeable, giving the whole thing a clean-skin intimacy rather than a fresh-laundry distance. It stays this way for the rest of the wear, close to the skin, warm, woody, with just enough of that soft floral memory to keep it from going fully masculine-woody.
