The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The meteore concept arrived from a single image, Louis Vuitton's Météore, a fragrance named for a meteor's fiery descent through the atmosphere. The Dua Brand's brief was to translate that imagery into scent: something bright on arrival, complex in transit, and lingering on impact. The name carries the concept forward, a hashtag, a signal, a reference point for those in the know. It launched in 2021 as part of the Inspired Expression collection.
The note structure mirrors the name's promise. Bright citrus, Calabrian bergamot, mandarin orange, Sicilian orange, opens like the first light of something entering the atmosphere. The florals and spices arrive next: Tunisian neroli, pink pepper, Guatemalan cardamom, Indonesian nutmeg. Together they deepen the brightness rather than replace it. Java vetiver anchors the drydown with an aromatic warmth that outlasts everything else on skin. What makes this composition work is that none of the stages disappear, each layer adds to what came before, building something that reads as singular rather than sequential.
The evolution
The opening hits fast. Bergamot, mandarin, orange, three citruses arriving at once, creating a bright, effervescent quality that demands attention. It doesn't creep in. It announces. Neroli softens the citrus after twenty minutes, adding a white floral quality that feels almost dewy. Pink pepper and warm spices arrive next, Guatemalan cardamom, Indonesian nutmeg, introducing complexity beneath the initial freshness. This is where the meteor image earns its name: the warmth builds as the brightness settles. Java vetiver anchors the drydown, creating an aromatic, slightly smoky warmth that lingers on skin. The citrus spark never fully disappears. It becomes woven into the base rather than dominating it, present but quiet, holding the composition together for the full 8 to 10 hours.
Cultural impact
#TheMeteore launched in 2021 as part of the Inspired Expression collection, making luxury fragrance character accessible to a wider audience. The Dua Brand's positioning, the fragrance insider's arbitrage, has built a steady following among scent enthusiasts who value both familiarity and originality. This fragrance represents that positioning at its most direct: a beautiful scent that doesn't require spending on pedigree. The combination of bright citrus, warm spices, and lasting vetiver drydown offers a complete wearing experience without the luxury markup.
