The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sweet Pastry & Capri Candy of Classic Lemon is a 2026 release from The Dua Brand, composed by Mahsam Raza as part of the Inspired Tribrid collection. The fragrance pairs the bright, sun-soaked sharpness of lemon with the buttery warmth of a freshly baked pastry, and the result reads like two scent worlds fused into a single, wearable composition. The opening bursts with a vivid lemon note, sharp and almost candied, before settling into a softer sweetness that recalls vanilla cream, sugar-dusted praline, and the quiet caramelization of pastry edges. Raza builds a citrus gourmand that doesn't fold the moment the lemon fades, and the composition stacks enough gourmand ballast under the citrus to keep it from disappearing in the first hour.
What's interesting here is the structural bet. This one layers Sicilian lemon and Calabrian bergamot at the top, then builds an unusually heavy cream-and-sugar architecture underneath: Chantilly cream, praline, brown sugar, bourbon vanilla, rum. The citrus doesn't float on air. It sits on something. Petitgrain adds a green, slightly bitter edge that prevents the opening from reading as candy, while Haitian vetiver in the base introduces a quiet earthiness that keeps the sweetness grounded.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are all spectacle. Sicilian lemon, lemon peel, and Calabrian bergamot arrive together in a near-overwhelming burst of yellow, sharp and slightly bitter from the petitgrain cutting through. It smells like a chilled glass of something on a hot afternoon, uncomplicated and immediate. Within twenty minutes the rum surfaces, warm and boozy, and the Chantilly cream starts to soften everything at the edges. Freesia and raspberry flicker in and out, the freesia adding a cool, soapy floral note while the raspberry leans jammy and fruit-forward. The ginger stays quiet, a clean heat more than a burn. By the two-hour mark the citrus has mostly retreated, and what remains is the cream-and-sugar architecture doing its job. Praline, brown sugar, and bourbon vanilla form a thick, warm base that clings close to skin. Haitian vetiver threads through the sweetness like a wooden toothpick, preventing it from going cloying.
Cultural impact
Sweet Pastry & Capri Candy of Classic Lemon draws on the kind of nostalgia that comes from lemon candies, lemon meringue pies, and Italian pastry shop counters. By pairing a sharp Sicilian and Calabrian lemon opening with a cream, praline, brown sugar, and bourbon vanilla base, the composition captures a particular kind of edible memory: bright citrus on top, warm pastry underneath.
