The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Pure Nectar launched in 2020 as The Dua Brand's interpretation of Xerjoff's Erba Pura, one of Italian niche perfumery's most recognizable fruity-citrus-amber profiles. The fragrance takes the bones of that composition and reworks them into something The Dua Brand's audience can wear without hesitation. Erba Pura, Italian for Pure Grass, has built a loyal following for its sun-drenched fruit character and its warm, almost edible base. Pure Nectar keeps that lineage visible: the same citrus-bright opening, the same honeyed fruit heart, the same creamy amber-vanilla drydown. Released as an Extrait de Parfum in a compact 30ml format, it condenses the original's personality into a smaller, more concentrated vessel.
What makes the structure work is the contrast between the opening's sharp acidity and the base's heavy sweetness. The listed notes show Sicilian lemon, Sicilian orange, and Calabrian bergamot in the top tier, each bringing a different facet of citrus character to the first impression. The lemon provides that clean, tart snap, the orange offers a rounder, juicier sweetness, and the bergamot contributes its signature slightly bitter, slightly floral edge.
The evolution
The first 30 minutes are all citrus, and they're unapologetic about it. The top notes announce themselves with the kind of brightness that fills a room quickly, the lemon's tartness leading the charge before the orange softens the edges. The bergamot lingers underneath, adding its own bitter-green counterpoint. Then the fruit accord swells, and it shifts the whole register. Not a specific, identifiable fruit, but something closer to the idea of ripe orchard fruit, the kind of sweetness that feels warm and almost honeyed. The sweetness thickens over the next couple of hours as the base notes begin to assert themselves. Vanilla arrives with real presence, joined by amber that grounds the composition with a golden, resinous quality. White musk underneath keeps the whole thing tethered to skin. The citrus gradually fades, but the vanilla-amber-musk base keeps projecting for hours.
Cultural impact
Pure Nectar has carved out recognition among fragrance enthusiasts familiar with Xerjoff's Erba Pura. Community discussions frequently compare the two, with many wearers noting that Pure Nectar reads as heavier, sweeter, and more concentrated than the original. The extrait concentration gives it noticeable presence, and reviewers consistently point to its bold sweetness and dense amber base as defining traits. It appeals to people drawn to the fruity-citrus-amber style who want a more accessible entry point into that genre.
