The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Poseidon's Berry Affair arrived in 2021 from The Dua Brand, a house that built its catalog around reconstructing high-end scent profiles. This one wears its inspiration on its sleeve: Creed Aventus, reimagined through a berry-stacked lens. Instead of one signature fruit note, the Dua team loaded the formula with blueberry, raspberry, blackberry, cranberry, black raspberry, and elderberry, building a fruit medley that delivers a genuinely layered experience from the first spray. The brand's own description tags it as vegan and Extrait de Parfum concentration, which points to a denser, oilier formulation than the average eau de parfum spray.
What makes this composition unusual is the sheer volume of berry notes working in parallel. This one stacks six, plus pineapple and apple, creating an opening that hits the nose with a dense, almost overwhelming fruit medley before anything woody arrives. The cassis (blackcurrant) gives it a dark, slightly tart backbone that keeps the sweetness from collapsing into flat sugar. Pink pepper adds a clean, bright heat that bridges the fruit and the smoke.
The evolution
The opening minutes are pure fruit, almost aggressive in their brightness. Blueberry and raspberry lead, but blackcurrant pulls the sweetness toward something darker, and pineapple flashes briefly before getting buried under the berry stack. Pink pepper crackles underneath, adding a fizzy warmth that stops the opening from reading as candy. The midphase is where the composition's center of gravity starts to slide downward. Patchouli and birch begin pulling the fruit into a smoky, slightly tarry woodiness, and the shift happens gradually rather than all at once. Jasmine peeks through here, a white-floral whisper that softens the transition rather than announcing itself. The base phase is where this scent finds its identity: berries still present but now wrapped in birch smoke, vanilla, and a mossy base that grounds everything in a warmer, drier register.
Cultural impact
Poseidon's Berry Affair sits within The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection, a category that openly flags its compositions as interpretations of existing luxury benchmarks. The scent leans into a stacked six-berry profile, with blueberry, raspberry, blackberry, cranberry, black raspberry, and elderberry all working alongside pineapple, apple, and cassis to create a fruit-forward opening that pushes well past what most single-fruit compositions attempt.
