The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Mahsam Raza composed Parisian Rice Of Silky Veil Santal in 2026 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Tribrid collection. The name pulls together three ideas: the rice-powder delicacy suggested by the title, the silky texture implied by a veil, and the warm, creamy character of santal. Raza built the fragrance around a floral fruity gourmand architecture, taking the bones of a luxury scent and delivering it in a softer, sweeter register, one that trades sharp edges for rice steam and powdered warmth. The composition opens with a bright pour of champagne accord, the kind of sparkling fizz that prickles across the senses like the first sip of something celebratory.
What sets this composition apart is the layering of champagne and rice alongside praline and caramel, a pairing that moves between effervescent and indulgent without committing fully to either. The Australian sandalwood and guaiac wood anchor the sweetness with something woody and grounded, while ambroxan and ambrette add a skin-like warmth underneath. The rice note itself gives the composition a powdery softness, a quality that drifts through the whole wear like steam rising off a warm bowl.
The evolution
The first spray announces itself with the bright pop of champagne and the tart snap of blackcurrant, cushioned almost immediately by white nectarine and the cool lily-freesia softness underneath. Within minutes the rice note surfaces, lending a creamy, almost starchy sweetness that smooths every sharp edge the opening introduced. The heart deepens into praline, caramel, and vanilla absolute, warmed by jasmine, orange blossom, and Damask rose, which keep the sweetness from collapsing into pure dessert territory. Ambrette and benzoin hum underneath, giving the floral gourmand a musky, skin-close dimension that makes it feel lived-in rather than confectionary. By the third hour, the gourmand top notes have thinned and the woods take over: Australian sandalwood and guaiac wood settle in alongside oakmoss, amyris, and woods, with ambroxan, musk, and amber carrying the final stretch. The drydown stays close to skin for the remaining hours, a warm, woody-powdery echo that still carries a ghost of vanilla and caramel.
Cultural impact
The Dua Brand's Inspired Tribrid collection, which Parisian Rice Of Silky Veil Santal belongs to, reflects a growing appetite for layered, hybrid perfumery. Wearers today are increasingly drawn to fragrances that blend multiple olfactive families into a single composition, moving past the traditional boundaries that once separated florals from gourmands or woods from ambers. Parisian Rice Of Silky Veil Santal captures this sensibility with its mix of champagne fizz, rice powder, praline sweetness, and creamy sandalwood, a combination that feels both familiar and new.
