Why it exists.
The beginning
O-Matic Rose landed in 2020 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection, the house's line dedicated to capturing the architecture of luxury fragrances without the luxury markup. The target was Atomic Rose by Initio Parfums, a composition built around two rose varieties, hedione, and a magnetic floral-oriental pull. The composition is anchored by rose paired with hedione and ambrofix, the materials that give Atomic Rose its warm, magnetic signature. The result is a dupe that wears close to the reference in feel and presence, built around the same structural pillars. Extrait de Parfum concentration, full presence, accessible price tag. It's a study in how a well-composed rose-forward scent can carry weight without shouting.
The Bulgarian rose brings a deep, rich character to the composition, a density that grounds the entire heart and gives the florals their substantial presence. The Turkish rose layers in a lighter, more honeyed facet, adding brightness and lift to keep the heart from collapsing into something heavy. The interplay between the two keeps the rose accord alive, oscillating between shadow and light, between fruit-adjacent sweetness and something more floral and sheer.
The evolution
O-Matic Rose opens with intention, not apology. The first 15 minutes are pink pepper doing its crackle thing over bergamot, a bright spicy entry that makes the floral heart feel earned. Then the roses arrive together, Bulgarian and Turkish, and the composition changes temperature. What was airy becomes dense, velvety, almost edible. The heart holds for a solid 2-3 hours, jasmine threading through the rose with a white-floral tension that keeps the sweetness from going soft. The vanilla arrives quietly, not as a base note announcement but as a slow warm-up, the way a room gets warmer as more people fill it. The drydown is where ambrofix does its best work. Around hour 4-5 the composition shifts from floral to something more mineral and skin-like, the rose receding into a warm amber-skin impression that lingers like perfume on a coat collar the next morning. It doesn't vanish at hour 6.
