Why it exists.
The beginning
Elated is composed by Mahsam Raza and released as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection. The brief was a citrus aromatic with genuine depth, something that opened bright enough to turn heads but settled into the mossy, resinous territory where real craft lives. Raza drew on a dense Italian-leaning palette: Calabrian bergamot, Sicilian lemon, Florentine iris and jasmine, olive blossom, mastic lentisque. It's a Mediterranean garden in extrait de parfum concentration, rendered with the kind of layered construction that usually carries a heavier price tag. The opening is a burst of sun-warmed peel, all zesty snap and cool herbal lift, with mint threading through the citrus to give it a clean, almost bracing clarity.
What makes this composition worth a second look is the breadth of the herbal-floral spine. Elated loads up: broom, chamomile, artemisia, rosemary, narcissus absolute, mastic, oakmoss, cypress. That's not a top-note showcase dressed up with a base. That's a structured aromatic where every layer earns its space, with the Florentine iris and narcissus doing the heavy lifting in the floral middle and the mastic and oakmoss pulling the drydown into something earthy, mossy, and quietly resinous.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes are all sparkle and snap. Mandarin, Calabrian bergamot, and Sicilian lemon hit together with mint threading through them, bright enough to make you check your wrist twice. The citrus doesn't disappear so much as get absorbed, pulled down into the herbal middle where rosemary, chamomile, and broom take over. Around the two-hour mark, the florals arrive: orange blossom lifts, olive blossom greens out, narcissus absolute gives it that dense honeyed pollen weight. The iris stays subtle, more texture than statement. Cypress and mastic come in last, joined by oakmoss and a whisper of artemisia. The drydown is mossy, balsamic, slightly bitter in the best way. The citrus opening gradually surrenders its sharpness and folds into the greener, more herbal territory that defines the heart, creating a seamless bridge between brightness and depth.

Elated draws on a layered herbal-floral structure that rewards close wearing rather than demanding attention from across the room. The composition reads as a natural fit for transitional weather, when green and aromatic profiles feel more right than warm and resinous ones. Its extrait concentration gives it enough presence to carry through cooler air without overwhelming, and the mossy, balsamic drydown makes it feel grounded rather than fleeting.
