The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Berry Delight arrived in 2023 from The Dua Brand, a house that builds work in the Inspired Expression collection. Perfumer Mahsam Raza composed this one as an extrait de parfum that leans into the sugary side of amber-spicy perfumery. The brief reads simple on paper: berries, caramel, warmth. The execution is denser than that. Raza builds on the sweet-gourmand tradition, stacking oud and patchouli underneath to keep the sugar from sliding into candy-store territory. The opening gives you raspberry and strawberry, candied and bright, with peach rounding the edges into something almost syrupy. Pink pepper and ginger add a low hum of heat that reads more sparkling sugar than actual spice. Then the caramel arrives, thick and slow, coating the fruit in a toffee-vanilla glaze.
What makes Berry Delight interesting isn't any single note. It's the structural move of placing oud and patchouli beneath caramel and raspberry without letting the fruit collapse into syrup. The sweet elements carry the foreground while the woods anchor everything beneath them. Pink pepper and ginger add a low hum of heat, labdanum does the amber-glue work, and vanilla smooths the seams between every layer so nothing reads isolated. The composition wants to be fun first, then earns the serious base.
The evolution
Berry Delight opens with an almost aggressive sweetness that pulls you in immediately. Raspberry and strawberry hit bright and candied, peach softening the edges, pink pepper adding a fizzy warmth that reads more like sparkling sugar than spice. Then ginger wakes up at the collar, and the whole top tilts warmer, the fruit gaining a spiced- jam quality instead of straight candy. The caramel arrives next, thick and slow, coating everything in a toffee-vanilla glaze that changes the entire temperature of the composition. The oud doesn't announce itself with any sharp leather or barnyard note. It just darkens the caramel, giving it a burnt-sugar edge instead of plain sweetness, the way a hard-candy shell darkens when it sits too long on a warm surface.
Cultural impact
Berry Delight sits in the space where gourmand sweetness meets Middle Eastern amber traditions, a territory where raspberry, caramel, and oud share the same composition and somehow make sense together. The fragrance wears as a treat without losing the gravity that oud and patchouli bring underneath. Its appeal lives in that contrast: candy-adjacent fruit on top, resinous depth beneath, labdanum warming the whole thing to something that reads more like skin than like spray.
