The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Berga Bros! arrived in 2026 from the desk of perfumer Mahsam Raza, who built it around a single idea: bergamot doesn't have to be polite. Raza's hand is behind The Dua Brand's catalog, a house where the brief is clear and the compositions speak for themselves. Berga Bros! fits that brief cleanly. It's an extrait de parfum that takes the bright Italian citrus so many compositions treat as a garnish and makes it the lead, then wraps the whole thing in leather and warm spice. The juice opens with a burst of Calabrian energy, that sharp green-tangerine brightness that almost prickles on the skin before settling into something rounder. Underneath, a backbone of cardamom and ginger builds a dry, peppery heat, while a leather accord threads through the whole composition like a seam of dark suede.
What makes this composition interesting isn't the bergamot itself, it's what happens around it. Italian bergamot Orpur, mandarin, and orange hit first, but almost immediately the spices arrive: cardamom, ginger, and Laotian cinnamon with an almost aggressive warmth. Then the leather accord, supported by Akigalawood, benzoin, and a stack of modern amber molecules (Ambroxan, Ambrocenide, Cosmone) that give the base its polished, slightly animalic depth. The interplay between these materials is where the composition earns its keep.
The evolution
The opening arrives sharp and unapologetic. Bergamot, mandarin, and orange hit like zest squeezed directly onto skin, bright and almost fizzy. There's a green, slightly bitter edge from the bergamot that keeps the citrus from reading as simple sweetness, while the mandarin contributes a juicier, rounder note underneath. Then the spice starts crowding in: cardamom first with its cool, slightly mentholated snap, then ginger's clean heat cutting through the citrus, then Laotian cinnamon warming everything from underneath with a dry, almost woody fire. As the composition settles, the citrus recedes and the leather accord begins to dominate, supported by the soft, vanillic resinousness of benzoin. The Akigalawood adds a woody, slightly peppery texture that keeps the base from going flat, lending a papyrus-and-oud-adjacent dryness to the leather.
Cultural impact
Berga Bros! sits within The Dua Brand's broader catalog as one of the house's citrus-and-leather compositions, a category that has become something of a signature across the line. The formula takes bergamot as its central character and builds a full leather-spice structure around it, resulting in a composition that reads as both familiar and specific. For buyers who already wear citrus-led fragrances, it offers a more textured, spiced take on the genre, one where the leather isn't an afterthought but a co-lead. For newcomers to the category, it's a leather-and-citrus composition that doesn't need prior context to land.
