The beginning
Beliefs landed in 2023 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection. This one draws from Kredo, a Nishane creation. Beliefs is the result of translating that original into a version that captures the same amber-spicy warmth and oud density without requiring a trip to a specialty boutique. The fragrance reads as a warm-woody oriental from the moment it touches skin, a dense composition built around rich texture rather than brightness. The opening brings a measured dose of cardamom and pink pepper, neither of which overwhelms the other, and the heart stages a meeting between osmanthus and oud that gives the fragrance its plush center. The base leans heavily on suede and sandalwood, both doing the work of smoothing the composition into something dry, warm, and skin-close.

The evolution

Within thirty minutes, the pepper softens and the osmanthus arrives, bringing its distinctive apricot-skin warmth. By the two-hour mark, the composition has settled fully into its drydown. The suede becomes the dominant texture: soft, slightly powdery, warm. Sandalwood sits underneath, giving the base a woody backbone that prevents it from going soft. The oud doesn't vanish; it recedes into a shadow note, present but no longer loud.
