The beginning
Miss Dumonten arrived in 2015 from the house of Serge Dumonten. The brand's earlier releases, like Jean Marais and Marc Antoine, share the same direct, evocative naming sensibility that defines the house, and later works like Black Narcotique and Prince of Darkness continue in that vein, each one leaning into its own world of mood and material. Miss Dumonten arrives as an Oriental Vanilla built on dark chocolate, amaretto, and honey, a dessert table with backbone, wrapped in tobacco, sandalwood, and patchouli. The opening reads almost edible: a pour of dark chocolate, the almond-sweet bitterness of amaretto pooling beneath it, and honey lending a golden, slow-drizzling warmth.
What makes Miss Dumonten interesting is how the sweet elements behave. Dark chocolate and amaretto aren't shy, but they don't dominate either.
