The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Lobitt is a top note of the LOANT Collection, Santi Burgas's modular system where each fragrance can be worn alone or layered with others in the range. The collection's naming draws from ant communication theory, where simple signals generate complex behavior. Lobitt, positioned as the collection's opening statement, translates that concept into olfactory terms: a citrus composition whose apparent simplicity masks something more layered underneath. Created by Blanca Dalmau and released in 2013, the fragrance serves as an entry point to the collection and offers a different take on how citrus can evolve on skin. The name itself echoes the collection's conceptual framework, hinting at something being set in motion.
What makes Lobitt interesting isn't any single note, it's the structural decision to lead with citrus and let white floral complications emerge. Neroli is the quiet key here. On its own, it's a bitter-orange blossom that can read as either soapy or elegant depending on context. In Lobitt, it functions as a mid-layer that most wearers don't consciously identify but definitely feel: the thing that prevents the bergamot-mandarin opening from feeling like a product description rather than a scent. The composition also carries the white-floral accord through the heart without ever making it dominant, keeping the fragrance in a perpetual state of citrus-with-something-else.
The evolution
It opens on skin like someone just peeled a mandarin in a small room. The citrus hits fast, bright, almost sharp as the bergamot and lemon compete for dominance. Then something softer starts pushing through, not replacing the citrus, but inhabiting the space between the zest and the air around your wrist. That's the neroli arriving. The white floral doesn't announce itself. It just settles. The bright opening and the softer heart engage in a quiet negotiation, neither winning outright. By the time the citrus has pulled back, it hasn't left entirely. It's now something closer to the memory of brightness, clean, warm, skin-adjacent. The drydown is where Lobitt earns its reputation. That lingering period isn't about the citrus holding on, it's about a soft, clean skin-feel that persists long after the actual scent has faded.
Cultural impact
Lobitt reflects a contemporary approach to citrus fragrance design that prioritizes nuance over convention. The emphasis on bright citrus accords speaks to an appreciation for freshness and transparency in scent profiles. This fragrance offers an experience that balances accessibility with depth, where premium materials meet thoughtful composition. The brand's approach to fragrance creation reflects a commitment to reimagining how familiar scent families can be presented.
