The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
ROEMY conceived Resort as a scent memory of a sun-soaked getaway, aiming to bottle that fleeting moment when the world feels slower and warmer. The Melbourne-based house, known for clean and cruelty-free formulations made in Australia, wanted to create something that captured escape without relying on synthetic shortcuts. The perfumer drew inspiration from Mediterranean coastal scenes, where fig trees grow wild near citrus groves and the air carries both green vitality and bright warmth. This olfactory snapshot became the foundation for Resort, a fragrance that prioritizes ingredient transparency and sustainable packaging while delivering an unmistakably warm-weather character.
The note selection for Resort reflects a deliberate philosophy of contrast and balance. Bergamot and green fig were chosen for the opening because they capture both the sparkle of citrus and the green vitality of sun-warmed vegetation without the sweetness of more tropical fruits. Coconut cream was selected as the heart note precisely because it bridges freshness and warmth, offering richness without heaviness. The drydown combination of amber, woody notes, and moss creates a natural conclusion that grounds the tropical warmth in something more complex and earthy.
The evolution
The opening of Resort immediately establishes its sunny disposition through bergamot and green fig, two notes that work in concert to create an aromatic freshness. Bergamot provides the initial spark, a citrus brightness that feels like morning light on skin. Green fig follows with its characteristic duality: slightly sweet fruit flesh balanced by a green, almost leafy quality that keeps the opening grounded in nature rather than pure zest. As the fragrance evolves, Coconut Cream emerges as the bridge between the fresh opening and the warm drydown, introducing a tropical richness that feels like afternoon sun on bare skin. Musk tempers this creaminess, ensuring the heart remains intimate and skin-close rather than projecting loudly into the room. The drydown brings closure through amber, woody notes, and moss, a combination that adds both warmth and natural depth. The amber provides resinous sweetness, the woody notes contribute structure, and the moss delivers an earthy counterpoint that keeps the overall impression grounded and lasting.
Cultural impact
Since its 2021 debut, Resort has been noted for echoing the green fig vibe of Diptyque’s Philosykos while steering away from heavy synthetics, aligning with ROEMY’s clean-beauty ethos. Wearers often describe it as the perfect holiday-in-a-bottle for casual summer outings, and its sustainable packaging has earned praise among eco-conscious fragrance fans. The coconut-cream twist sets it apart, giving the scent a tropical softness that resonates with those seeking a modern, responsible alternative to classic fig fragrances.
