The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Deep Desire arrived in 2019 from perfumer Christophe Raynaud, and the name says everything. This isn't a fragrance that hints. Mandarin orange and black pepper open sharp and clean, a clear signal before the warmth takes over. The heart layers cinnamon and saffron with a tuberose note that pushes against expectations. Raynaud built this around tension: bright citrus against deep spice, creamy florals against woody structure. Cashmeran and cedarwood anchor the composition, keeping everything grounded. The result is a scent that moves from crisp opening to warm, lingering base, a full arc designed for someone who treats their entrance as part of the performance.
The mandarin and black pepper opening is a deliberate choice, it announces before it seduces. Then the heart shifts the tone entirely. Cinnamon brings warmth that reads almost edible, while saffron adds a sharp, metallic edge that keeps things interesting. The tuberose is the pivot point: creamy, slightly indolic, typically found in feminine fragrances but used here to create unexpected depth in a masculine composition. Cashmeran, a synthetic note that mimics the softness of cashmere, wraps the base in warmth without weight. Cedarwood adds structure, a quiet foundation that holds everything together. It's a combination that shouldn't work on paper but does.
The evolution
The opening hits immediately, mandarin and black pepper crackling bright across the skin. Clean. Electric. Then the hand-off: cinnamon and saffron arrive together, shifting the energy from sharp to warm. The tuberose emerges in the heart, creamy and present, adding a lush floral dimension that changes the conversation entirely. As the fragrance develops, the drydown takes over. Cashmeran wraps close to the skin, soft, powdery warmth that doesn't shout. Cedarwood arrives as a quiet structural note, adding woody depth without heaviness. The whole evolution feels less like phases and more like a dialogue. Each note yields to the next. What truly lingers is that cashmeran and cedar base, present, intimate, close.
Cultural impact
Designed for someone who doesn't need to announce themselves. The warm spice and woody depth make it a natural for evening wear and cooler months, with moderate sillage that keeps the scent intimate rather than overpowering. Saffron and tuberose add a layer of complexity that gives the scent a distinctive character beyond typical masculine offerings.
