The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Golden Anniversary marks a milestone for the house, the kind of moment that invites perfumers to make something worth remembering. Launched in 2021 by Christophe Raynaud and Philippine Courtière, this limited edition gave the pair a rare brief: no compromises. The name says celebration, but the scent says confidence. Black violet and leather, tonka bean and gurjan balsam, a combination that doesn't play it safe.
Black violet is the surprise. In men's fragrance, it's an uncommon move, more often found in florals, here it adds a powdery sweetness that lifts the leather instead of drowning it. Gurjan balsam, a resinous wood oil, brings a warm, slightly animalic depth that gives the base staying power. The result is a fragrance that feels opulent without being loud, the kind of presence that doesn't need to announce itself.
The evolution
The scent opens clean and herbal. Lavender leads, cool and crisp. Within minutes, the violet threads through, that powdery sweetness blooming alongside it. The leather arrives not as a statement but as a foundation, steady beneath the warmth. Tonka bean takes over from there, deepening everything into a rich, sweet warmth that lasts for hours. The drydown settles close, warm amber wrapping around skin, gurjan balsam lending a subtle animalic depth. By the end of the day, it's a trace. The kind of scent someone notices in the space between you.
Cultural impact
Limited to Middle Eastern markets, Golden Anniversary has developed a reputation as a collector's piece, sought after for its rarity and its bold take on leather and violet. Wearers describe it as the kind of fragrance that gets noticed without trying. The combination of powdery violet with leather in a men's fragrance is unusual, and the scent has earned attention for its distinctive character and confident composition.
