    Heritage

A house, in its own words

The house emerged from a friendship formed in childhood between three individuals: Serena Britos, an ethnobotanist who lives and works on a farm in Uruguay; Malvin Richard, son of established perfumer Jean-Claude Richard; and Lukas. Malvin's familial connection to perfumery proved formative. He studied the craft in Grasse, the historic heart of French fragrance production, absorbing techniques passed down through his father's lineage. Serena contributed deep expertise in botanical sourcing, leveraging her life among the diverse flora of South America. Together, the three friends built a house dedicated to capturing place itself through scent. The brand launched its first collection in 2014, presenting five fragrances named by their geographic coordinates, each corresponding to a specific landscape. A sixth fragrance followed in 2016, deepening the house's exploration of terroir. The collaboration between a Grasse-trained perfumer and an ethnobotanist gave the house a rare dual perspective: technical mastery of fragrance construction combined with intimate knowledge of raw material origins. Richard Lüscher Britos operates from a conviction that place carries a distinct aromatic signature, as identifiable as any single ingredient. Rather than constructing perfumes around materials, the house constructs them around locations. Each fragrance begins with a geographic coordinate, representing a real place with real botanicals growing in real soil. This approach rejects abstraction in favor of specificity. The house works exclusively with natural materials, believing that only unadulterated natural substances can faithfully represent a place's true character. Synthetic compounds, in this view, introduce foreign elements that dilute the connection between fragrance and origin. The result is a collection of scents that function almost as sensory cartography, each one mapping the olfactory identity of a specific latitude and longitude.
