Essential, as in the essence of one thing, refined to its core character. From Place des Lices' atelier in Grasse, this release reflects the brand's focus on raw, unadorned perfumery. Here the place evoked is not the sunlit Riviera often associated with Grasse but something more subterranean: the damp floor of a forest, the underside of a leaf, the quiet pull of soil.
Indonesian patchouli carries a reputation built on its darker, fermented expressions, the kind associated with aged oils and vintage cachet. Place des Lices sidesteps that stereotype entirely.
