The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Coralie Spicher built Plein Sport Dynamite as a deliberate shift in register. This fragrance answers a different question: what does the brand do when the sun's up and the club's closed? The name suggests movement and energy, and Dynamite delivers that in a form that feels at home beyond the gym. Spicher reached for citrus and mint as a starting point, then anchored them to earthier materials that give the freshness weight and staying power. The composition avoids the typical aquatic territory, offering instead a bright, grounded take on the genre that stays with the wearer throughout the day. The interplay of zesty and deep notes creates a dynamic fragrance experience that captures the essence of athletic vitality while remaining sophisticated enough for everyday wear.
The structure hinges on an unlikely pairing: Calone and fig leaf. Calone is the synthetic compound responsible for that ozonic, watermelon-adjacent note found in fragrances like Escape for Men and Pleasure. It's marine without being soapy, sweet without being cloying. Fig leaf is its counterweight: green, dewy, slightly bitter, the smell of stems not fruit. Together they create a tension between air and earth. Ginger and cardamom warm the middle, adding spice that keeps the aquatic notes from going flat. Vetiver grounds everything with its signature smoky-root character.
The evolution
The opening arrives fast. Mandarin and mint hit within seconds, the citrus jammy and bright, the mint crisp and immediate. There's no gradual build here; the top notes announce themselves with confidence before they begin to soften. The handoff to the heart is where Dynamite earns its name. Calone kicks in, bringing that ozonic sweetness that shifts the character from sharp to soft, almost dewy. Fig leaf is present but not dominant, it reads as green, slightly aquatic, more suggestion than statement. Ginger and cardamom warm the middle, adding spice that keeps the aquatic notes from going flat. The base arrives with quiet confidence. Vetiver takes over, earthy and slightly smoky, while cashmeran softens the edges into something close to skin. The drydown is intimate, staying with the wearer more than announcing itself to the room.
Cultural impact
The Calone-fig leaf combination gives Dynamite a point of view that stands apart from conventional sport fragrances. The ozonic sweetness of Calone meets the green, dewy bite of fig leaf, creating a tension between air and earth that feels both fresh and grounded. Wearers describe it as avoiding the usual soapy trap that plagues many aquatic fragrances, finding instead a complexity that rewards attention. The ginger and cardamom warmth in the heart keeps the composition from feeling flat, while vetiver and cashmeran anchor everything into a smooth, lasting drydown.
