The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Love in Rome was born from a simple question: what if the Italian glamour of a designer icon didn't come with the designer price? Oakcha looked at the accords of Valentino Donna Born in Roma, bright citrus, white florals, warm vanilla, and set out to make that same feeling available to more people. The name says it all. Rome as a concept: romance, warmth, late-afternoon light, the kind of effortless elegance that feels expensive. The fragrance translates that fantasy into something you can actually wear without saving up.
The structure is what makes it work. Three layers that play well together, fresh citrus up top, a floral heart that keeps things romantic, and a warm vanilla base that lingers. The jasmine sambac and jasmine tea in the heart are the quiet heroes here. They keep the sweetness from becoming overwhelming, adding a slightly green, slightly aromatic quality that elevates the whole composition. It's gourmand without going syrupy.
The evolution
The opening hits bright, bergamot's clean bite, pink pepper's faint prickle, blackcurrant sitting sweet and almost candied underneath. Lifted by the citrus so it never cloys. Fruity and fizzy, like something just poured. Then jasmine arrives in a soft, romantic gesture, jasmine sambac and jasmine tea weaving through the composition, slightly green, slightly sweet, keeping the sweetness from ever becoming too much. After a couple of hours, vanilla takes over. Warm and gourmand, wrapping everything in a soft embrace. Guaiac wood adds a clean, dry finish that keeps the vanilla from becoming heavy. The drydown is intimate, warm and close to the skin, the kind of scent someone notices when they're standing beside you.
Cultural impact
Love in Rome fits into a broader movement toward accessible luxury in fragrance, making designer aesthetics available without the markup. The sweet-to-warm structure has broad appeal, especially for those drawn to the Donna Born in Roma aesthetic but hesitant about the price. Wears best in transitional seasons and evening settings, with versatility that extends across different occasions.
