The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Soho Aura is Nayaat's love letter to that specific city-morning electricity, the first ten minutes after a door closes behind you and the whole day is still a blank page. Released in 2025, it captures the way a scent can carry that feeling past the first hour, opening with a brightness that reads more like sunlight through a window than a staged entrance. Soho Aura reaches for lychee, mandarin, and marigold, building luminosity first and letting the rest follow. There's a clarity to how the top notes present themselves: the lychee carries a soft, dewy sweetness that feels almost chilled, the mandarin adds a zest that brightens without sharpening, and the marigold lends a slightly warm floral undertone that keeps the fruit from reading as one-dimensional.
What makes Soho Aura interesting structurally is the tension between the gourmand praline and the mossy, slightly animalic base. Praline in the heart turns what could have been a straightforward white floral into something with a creamy, almost edible warmth, and it does so without tipping into cloying territory. The ambergris and peach underneath ground that sweetness in something warmer, almost skin-like, with the ambergris lending a saline, mineral edge that keeps the praline from reading as purely sugary.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes are a bright, sunlit thing. Mandarin and lychee hit almost simultaneously, that sharp citrus-tinged sweetness, while calendula adds a slightly bitter, green-herbal edge underneath, like the smell of stems in a flower shop. The opening is unmistakably alive, a bit of fizz and freshness that settles fast. By the forty-minute mark, jasmine arrives and tilts the whole thing toward something more traditionally floral. Lily of the valley softens the jasmine's sharper edges, and praline starts warming through, turning the composition creamier. This is the most confectionary phase, a milky white floral that some wearers will find irresistible and others might find a touch sweet. Around the three-hour mark the base starts to take over. Moss and ambergris replace the praline's overt sweetness with something warmer and more grounded, while peach adds a fleshy, skin-like roundness. The moss is subtle but present, giving the drydown a green backbone that keeps the sweetness from going flat.
Cultural impact
Soho Aura has drawn attention for its lychee-praline combination, which sits at the intersection of fruity and gourmand territory in a way that feels distinctly modern. The praline sweetness divides opinion between those who find it irresistibly creamy and those who find it a touch confectionary, and that split is part of what gives the scent its character. The ambergris in the base adds enough depth to keep the sweetness from reading as one-note, and the peach note contributes a fleshiness that grounds the composition as it wears.
