The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Nanette Lepore built her fashion house on bold prints and the kind of femininity that doesn't ask permission. The fragrance line treats scent the same way the runway treats color: a tool for self-expression, not background noise. Enchanted Jasmine arrived in 2017 as part of that conversation between clothing and mood. The name does what it says. Jasmine sits at the center of this composition like the main character in a story, not a supporting player. Bergamot opens the door, bright and slightly bitter, like citrus zest caught in sunlight, pulling you in before the floral even arrives. Lily of the valley adds a green, almost-cool brightness, a dewy quality that keeps the jasmine from collapsing into something too heavy or too sweet.
The note structure here is deliberately stripped down. Five ingredients, no noise. Bergamot at the top is a deliberate choice: citrus against jasmine creates a tension that keeps the floral from going heavy or soapy. That first spritz feels almost effervescent, the way a clean citrus can lift a dense floral heart and give it air. Lily of the valley in the heart adds a clean, almost dewy quality, a green lift that prevents the jasmine from collapsing into something too dense or cloying. It reads like morning light through leaves, cool and translucent against the warmer jasmine underneath.
The evolution
First 15 minutes: the bergamot does its work. Bright, slightly bitter, almost like biting into the rind before the juice. It creates space for what comes next, a clean, citrus-edged platform that keeps the jasmine from arriving too heavy. You can feel the composition opening up, almost breathing, before the floral heart settles in. The 20 to 90 minute mark is where this fragrance earns its name. Jasmine comes forward fully, not as a whisper but as a statement. It reads warm, slightly creamy, with a honeyed depth that feels rich and full. Lily of the valley threads through it, adding a cool, green brightness that keeps the floral from going monolithic. Together they create a white floral that feels alive, not static. The two notes play off each other constantly, the jasmine lending warmth and the lily lending clarity, so neither one overwhelms. After about two hours, the base takes over.
Cultural impact
Enchanted Jasmine is the kind of scent that walks into a room and doesn't apologize for being there. It's a white floral with confidence, a composition that treats jasmine as the star and builds everything else around supporting it without ever letting the supporting cast fade into the background. Bergamot opens things with a clean brightness, lily of the valley keeps the heart feeling green and alive, and the sandalwood and musk base gives it a warm, skin-close finish that makes the whole thing feel personal rather than performative. In a category full of whisper-soft florals, this one has presence.
