Mine Perfume Lab emerged from the collaboration of Massimo and Maria Annunziata, an Italian entrepreneurial couple. According to fragrance community site Fragrantica, the pair began developing their own fragrance concept in 2010, though the brand publicly launched under the MINE Perfume Lab name in 2017, as documented on their Instagram presence. The company operates as a workshop rather than a factory, producing fragrances entirely by hand in Italy. The founder, Massimo Annunziata, appears as the creative voice behind the brand on social media. The name change or formalization to MINE Perfume Lab coincided with increased public visibility, with the brand's Instagram account established in 2017 announcing artistic fragrances rooted in the founder's personal stories. The company has progressively released fragrances over the years, from Mr. Vetiver in 2013 through Violinette in 2024, suggesting an evolving catalog built over more than a decade of development.
The brand positions itself as an antidote to industrial perfumery. Rather than mass production, Mine Perfume Lab presents itself as a workshop where each fragrance receives human attention. Their marketing language describes perfumes as touched by gestures that are human, imperfect, and unrepeatable, emphasizing singularity over standardization.
