The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Floral arrived in 2020 as part of KORRES's Floral Collection. The trio of miniature eau de toilettes is built for discovery, each one a small bottle that invites you to test the scent before committing to anything larger. There's no story layered on top, no mythology wrapped around the juice. It's a stripped-back approach that lets the notes speak, just orange and lemon on top, magnolia and undisclosed florals at the heart, and a single base of clean white musk. The composition reads clearly on skin, a fresh floral that smells like what it says it is: flowers, citrus, and a softness that doesn't ask for attention. It's the kind of scent you reach for on a warm morning, or layer under something heavier when you want a quieter base.
What makes Floral distinctive isn't complexity; it's restraint. The pyramid runs lean, two top notes, two heart notes, a single base. Orange and lemon open bright but quickly hand the floor to magnolia, a white floral that reads creamy rather than indolic, soft rather than sharp. The undisclosed floral notes in the heart add texture without weight, rounding magnolia's edges with something vaguely powdery and diffuse. Then musk, clean white, does the quiet work underneath, lending the whole composition a pressed-cotton softness that makes it smell more like skin than perfume.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes are almost confectionery. Orange and lemon hit bright and sweet, like the zest of fruit held just below your nose, the kind of opening that smells like a kitchen window thrown open in summer. Then the citrus softens and magnolia takes over, blooming into the composition with a plush white-floral warmth. By the second hour the florals have settled into a milky skin scent, the musk arriving not as a base note but as a texture, making everything feel pressed, laundered, close. The drydown is where Floral earns its reputation for quietness: a sheer musk that sits close to the skin and stays intimate through the afternoon. The sillage is modest, a soft trail you catch when someone passes your desk, not a cloud that announces you across a room.
Cultural impact
Floral wears well on anyone who finds traditional florals too heavy or too sweet, and it doubles as a layering base for richer fragrances. The clean musk and creamy magnolia make it a flexible piece, something you can wear alone on its own or use as a soft foundation under a denser perfume. It reads as quiet, skin-forward, and unfussy, the sort of scent that fits naturally into a daily routine rather than demanding a specific occasion. For anyone building a small, versatile collection, Floral earns its place as a piece that pulls more weight than its modest size suggests.
