The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Kate Spade has built its identity around bright color, witty femininity, and effortless polish. Cherie Je T'aime continues that story, a fragrance named for the tender admission at the center of a Parisian romance. The 2025 release translates that feeling into scent: bright fruit, soft white florals, and a warmth that lingers close to the skin. Anne Flipo composed the fragrance with Tanguy Guesnet, selecting notes that capture the initial spark and the slow warmth that follows. The brand's philosophy of finding joy in the beautiful and bright lives in every layer, tropical, unapologetically pretty, and never trying too hard.
What makes Cherie Je T'aime work is its restraint. Tropical notes can easily tip into synthetic or sunscreen territory, but the coconut water and passion fruit here stay grounded by petitgrain's green bitter edge. The heart, jasmine sambac, mimosa, orange blossom, layers rather than overwhelms. Cashmeran, the base material, acts as a bridge between the fruity opening and the powdery drydown, keeping everything soft and cohesive. The result is a fragrance that feels like a slow exhale rather than a statement.
The evolution
The opening announces itself quickly: passion fruit and coconut water hit bright and almost effervescent. Petitgrain adds a brief herbal counterpoint, a small reality check before the florals arrive. Within fifteen minutes, jasmine and mimosa take over. The tropical sweetness doesn't disappear; it deepens, warmed by the florals until the composition reads as one continuous soft bloom. The drydown is cashmeran's domain, powdery, skin-like, with cedarwood and tonka bean providing just enough structure to keep it from disappearing entirely. On fabric, it lasts hours. On skin, count on a full workday of gentle presence.
Cultural impact
Kate Spade's fragrance collection occupies a specific space: accessible luxury with a playful heart. Cherie Je T'aime continues that tradition, sweet, tender, and designed for the wearer who finds beauty in the bright and beautiful. It sits comfortably alongside the house's broader lifestyle identity: wit, warmth, and effortless polish without apology.
