The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Yellow landed in 2025 as one of two debut releases under the Kanchaveli label, paired with its sibling White. The house frames Yellow as spontaneity made wearable: the color of ideas, of sparks catching mid-thought. Kanchaveli operates as a small, independent label where each formula is treated as a deliberate creative statement rather than a mass-market product. What both inaugural releases share is a focus that reads less like traditional perfumery and more like color theory translated into scent, with Yellow positioned at the brighter, more energetic end of that spectrum. The leather opens with weight, the citrus cuts through with lift, and the woods settle underneath like the afterimage of a bright flash.
Three notes, one clear idea. Leather opens the composition, a tactile and immediate presence that announces itself without waiting for the usual bright citrus lead-in. The citrus middle does the brightness work, slicing into the leather's weight and pulling the whole thing into sharper focus. The woody drydown then absorbs both into something grounded and golden. It's a structure that reads more like a temperature shift than a conventional top-to-base progression: you move from the dense and close to the lifted and bright, then down again into something steadier and more rooted.
The evolution
The first moments are the loudest. Leather hits immediately, close and tactile, like the surface of a warm steering wheel or a jacket just pulled off. Citrus cuts through within the opening stretch, lifting the leather into something sharper and more awake. As the composition breathes, the citrus softens, the leather loses its initial bite, and a woody warmth takes over, quiet and present. The wood behaves here with a dry, grounded character, absorbing the earlier notes into something stable and golden-toned. On skin the wear unfolds gradually, with the leather slowly receding and the citrus giving way to a steady woody close that stays close to fabric. The woods hold the room for the final stretch, carrying the composition into a drier, warmer territory where the original leather has become more suggestion than statement.
Cultural impact
Yellow reads as deliberate, which suits a label that names compositions after elemental colors and emotional states rather than places or people. The release sits within a broader current of independent fragrance houses releasing small, focused edits where the point of view matters more than the scale. There's an intentional minimalism to the project, three notes per composition, a tight palette, and a brief that leans on clarity and contrast rather than complexity. The result is a fragrance that feels self-contained, a small object with a clear position, made for wearers who want something that stands on its own.
The House
KanchaveliKanchaveli is an independent perfume atelier founded by Georgian-born creator Bidzina Kanchaveli, based in Berlin and registered in the Charlottenburg commercial register under his name. The house debuted with two fragrances in 2025, White and Yellow, followed by a 2026 collection titled after the seven deadly emotions, including Hate, Grief, Envy, and Fear. Operating with the small-batch sensibility of a personal studio rather than a commercial label, Kanchaveli positions itself at the intersection of storytelling, theater, and scent, appealing to wearers who treat fragrance as an extension of narrative art.
The Creator
Bidzina KanchaveliKanchaveli's signature is an aggressive originality, a refusal to lean on the genre conventions that dominate niche perfumery. He builds his fragrances from unusual aromatic raw materials and arranges them in ways that resist immediate decoding, forcing the wearer into a slowe…
