The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Gino Percontino designed Festival Vibes for Him in 2018 with one clear directive: capture the feeling of an outdoor festival as the sun dips below the horizon. Ozonic freshness meets warm amber, that moment when the crowd shifts from day-glow accessories to something softer, closer, more intimate. The name says it all. This is a fragrance built for the vibes, not the notes list.
What makes Festival Vibes interesting is its use of ozonic notes alongside hemp and bay leaf, an unusual combination for a mass-market fragrance. The ozonic quality gives it that open-air feeling, while the herbal heart adds a quiet complexity that keeps it from smelling like every other aquatic out there. The tonka bean in the base brings a sweet, almost edible warmth that rounds everything out, making the drydown feel warmer and more personal than the opening suggests.
The evolution
Festival Vibes opens with a watery burst, sea salt and ripe pineapple hitting together, ozonic freshness cutting through like a coastal breeze. Within twenty minutes, the pineapple softens and the herbal heart arrives: bay leaf and ginger bringing a clean, slightly spicy warmth that replaces the cool opening. The ozonic quality doesn't disappear, it lingers at the edges, keeping things airy. By the second hour, the ambergris and tonka bean take over. The scent becomes warmer, sweeter, closer to the skin. That herbal bay leaf note persists longest, which is unusual, most fragrances lose their middle notes first. On most skin types, the drydown settles into something warm and intimate, lasting four to six hours before fading quietly into the fabric.
Cultural impact
Festival Vibes for Him lives in the accessible summer fragrance category, not trying to compete with designer heavyweights or niche houses. It's the kind of scent that works for daily wear without overthinking it. Hollister positioned it as an affordable gateway fragrance that captures the festival culture aesthetic without intimidating new fragrance wearers.
