The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Esprit Infini arrived in 2018 from Hayari Parfums. The brand's Original collection draws from animal archetypes, and this fragrance belongs to the falcon. Solar rays. Invisible light dissolving into the air. Pure, infinite origins reflected as warmth on skin. Céline Ripert built the composition around that energy, light translated into scent. Davana essential oil opens bright and fruity, drawn from Indian tradition. Labdanum resin from Mediterranean cistus adds dry, aromatic depth. The result bridges Eastern aromatic heritage and French craftsmanship, two traditions that define the house's character.
What makes Esprit Infini distinctive is how the opening note, davana, interacts with the amber base. Davana brings a sweet-fruity, slightly fermented quality that keeps the amber from becoming linear or cloying. It's unusual in Western perfumery but familiar in the Indian tradition. Spanish immortelle absolute adds another layer of complexity. Immortelle smells herbal, honeyed, and slightly smoky, a note that sits between sweet and savory. It grounds the composition in something rooted and natural while adding depth that rewards repeated wear.
The evolution
The opening announces itself immediately: davana's sweet-fruity quality balanced by labdanum's dry, resinous warmth. This phase reads bright and herbal simultaneously, energizing without being sharp. The davana carries a slight medicinal edge that fades as the heart develops. The heart reveals its layers gradually. Spanish immortelle absolute arrives first, adding an herbal, slightly smoky dimension that keeps the rose from reading as purely floral. The Atlas cedar emerges alongside, lending structure and a dry woodiness that bridges the top and base. The rose itself is restrained, present but not dominant, woven into the cedar rather than floating above it. The base anchors everything. Indonesian patchouli appears early and never fully disappears, providing an earthy foundation that grounds the sweeter top notes.
Cultural impact
Esprit Infini has found its audience among those drawn to warm, resinous ambers with unusual complexity. The davana and immortelle combination offers something that rewards attention rather than announcing itself. Its moderate sillage suits intimate settings, the kind of presence that draws people closer rather than announcing arrival. Worn most consistently in cooler months and after dark, it occupies a space between daytime sophistication and evening depth. The composition unfolds in layers, each wearing phase revealing new facets that invite closer inspection.
