    Master Perfumer

    Celine Ripert

Celine Ripert grew up curious about the invisible world of scent. She trained in Grasse, the ancient perfume capital of France, where she completed her studies and worked as a resident perfumer at Charabot, one of the oldest fragrance houses in the world. That grounding in classical French perfumery shaped her methodical approach to composition. Over the years she built a versatile portfolio working with brands like Annayake, Police, and Brocard, creating fragrances that ranged from refined masculine signatures to accessible modern scents. In 2015 she founded her own house, NANA.M, drawn by a love for niche perfumery and the creative freedom it offered. The move marked her shift from collaborative work for major brands toward a more personal creative voice. She speaks openly about her early scent memories and the inquisitive spirit that first led her to the profession, describing perfumery as both a discipline and a deep passion. Today she balances commercial work with her independent label, bringing the same intensity to each composition whether it carries a fashion label or her own name.

    How Celine composes

Ripert favors a structured yet fluid approach to composition, often building around a central accord that anchors the fragrance while allowing subtle variations to emerge as it develops on skin. She works comfortably with both natural and synthetic materials, choosing based on longevity and emotional resonance rather than origin. Her work spans fresh, aquatic compositions and richer, warmer constructions, showing technical range. She tends toward clean bases and well-defined heart notes, avoiding excessive layering in favor of clarity and precision.

    Philosophy

    What drives Celine

Ripert approaches fragrance as storytelling through materials. She believes every perfume should carry an emotional narrative, something that goes beyond smell and touches memory. Her creative process begins with understanding what feeling a fragrance should evoke before she considers ingredients. She is drawn to contrasts and unexpected pairings but always keeps the wearer's experience central. For her, niche perfumery represents the freedom to experiment without the constraints of mass-market expectations, though she does not dismiss commercial work as lesser. She describes her philosophy simply: make something that matters to the person who wears it.
