David Huang grew up in Henan province with no apparent path to Paris. He worked in a soap factory, taught himself two languages, and earned a place at ISIPCA. France demanded precision and patience. China demanded something else entirely, something harder to articulate. He learned to hold both. At Robertet, Huang built a practice rooted in the idea that Chinese culture never stopped influencing perfumers, even when perfumery itself seemed like a foreign language. The company kept investing in his vision, doubling down on his approach. Huang calls himself a nose, a word that sounds clinical until you realize how much it costs to become one. His career reads like a translation that took decades to find the right words for.
