The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Paraiba arrived in 2025 as part of Gisada's Luxury Line. Pear and peony provide the initial brightness, a crisp, light opening that feels clean and inviting. The pear brings a subtle sweetness that isn't overpowering, while peony adds a lush floral quality that softens the edges and rounds out the top. Driftwood and white musk form the deeper layers, adding warmth and a subtle woody quality that grounds the fragrance. The combination of these notes creates a scent that balances fruity freshness with softer, skin-like accords, resulting in a fragrance that feels both delicate and substantive. There's a natural tension between the bright top notes and the warm base that keeps the composition interesting without becoming complicated.
Dew drop and magnolia create a cool, watery heart that carries a sense of freshness throughout the mid-section. White musk then takes over as the composition settles, holding the scent close to the skin rather than letting it dissipate. The pear-peony top arrives first, offering an accessible entry point with its clean fruit and floral combination. Chamomile sits alongside juniper without taking on a medicinal quality, instead bringing a subtle herbal calm that complements the other notes.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and clean, juniper's aromatic snap followed by pear's crisp fruitiness, softened immediately by chamomile's herbal calm. Peony arrives within minutes, shifting the register from fresh to floral without becoming sweet. Magnolia and dew drop emerge next, and this is where the scent reveals its aquatic character. Not aquatic in the saltwater sense, more like the smell of air after rain, that moment when everything feels washed clean. Driftwood enters quietly, not loud, just present. Rose lingers in the background, adding a subtle warmth to the cool heart. White musk settles close to the skin, intimate and clean. Crystal amber adds a whisper of warmth without sweetness. The drydown stays close, lingering near the skin as the composition fades into its final stages.
Cultural impact
Paraiba occupies a distinctive space in the unisex fragrance market. The combination of aquatic, floral, and woody notes sets it apart from typical gender-neutral offerings, giving it a unique character that feels both modern and timeless. The scent offers presence without announcement, working through subtlety rather than bold statements. The blend of fresh and warm elements creates something that feels considered rather than conventional, appealing to those who appreciate fragrance as an intimate rather than performative element of personal style.
