The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Stronger With You line speaks to connection, to what happens when two people are aligned. Cecile Matton built this flanker around the idea of warmth that's given, not demanded. She reached for oud and vanilla: materials that feel rich, almost generous, without being aggressive. The lavender grounds the sweetness, keeps it from tipping into something one-dimensional. It's a composition about balance, the kind Armani does best.
What makes this work is the powdery quality the lavender brings. It's not the sharp, herbal lavender of men's grooming, it's more floral, more like the lavender in a fine soap. That keeps the oud and vanilla from becoming too heavy, too dark. The combination is sweet-woody but never cloying. It reads as warm, intimate, almost comfortable, which is not easy to achieve with oud in the mix.
The evolution
The opening hits lavender and oud together, fresh, aromatic, with a dry wood quality that almost reads as leather. The vanilla builds quietly, doesn't announce itself. Within twenty minutes, you're in the heart: warm, enveloping, the kind of presence that doesn't need to project. The drydown is where this lives, the vanilla and oud settle close to the skin, powdery and sweet, the lavender still faintly there keeping everything grounded. On most people, you're looking at eight to ten hours. On fabric, it lingers even longer.
Cultural impact
The Stronger With You line has developed a dedicated following for its warm, approachable DNA. The Oud flanker is praised for making oud feel accessible, rich without being aggressive, sweet without being juvenile. It's the kind of fragrance people ask about regularly. The line has remained consistently available in Armani boutiques and department stores since its launch.
