Why it exists.
The beginning
Bondi Beach arrived in 2020 as part of Parfums Berdoues' Grands Crus Summer Edition, a seasonal drop designed to bottle the feeling of a specific coastline. The perfumer, Flavien Laurandeau, composed it as a citrus aromatic, leaning on three named regional ingredients to do the talking. Tunisian neroli brings the floral lift, Calabrian bergamot adds a sharper citrus bite, and Italian lemon cuts through with that clean, almost sour brightness. There is no plot, no narrative arc. The brief was the place. The place was Bondi. Everything else is just the perfumer choosing which notes actually smell like the hour you're trying to recreate.
What makes this composition interesting is its restraint. Three regional citruses plus vanilla, nothing else, and yet the accord reads sweet, fruity, slightly powdery, and a touch aquatic all at once. Nothing tips into plain lemonade territory because the blending keeps each citrus in its lane while letting them share the same bright, sun-warmed space. The bergamot provides structure, giving the opening its rounded, slightly bitter edge that keeps the sweetness in check.
The evolution
