The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Bruno Jovanovic designed Platinum, a fragrance that opens with immediate impact and settles into something quieter, more personal over time. The composition leans into brightness that earns its warmth, freshness that doesn't apologize for having depth. Jovanovic reached for pineapple and black pepper to grab attention quickly, then built the heart and base to reward anyone who stayed long enough to listen. The result is a fragrance that feels both confident and approachable, with a sweetness that doesn't cloy and a spice that doesn't overwhelm. It's the kind of scent that announces itself in the opening moments but gradually reveals layers that reward repeated wearing.
The structure inverts expectation. Platinum flips the typical fresh masculine formula. The pineapple and juniper create an almost fruity cocktail opening that reads playful, even youthful. There's a brightness here that feels inviting rather than aggressive. Then the cashmeran arrives, a molecule that mimics cashmere's softness, and it doesn't soften so much as complicate the composition. Geranium and sage push the heart toward aromatic territory, herbal and slightly green, adding an unexpected dimension that keeps the fragrance from settling into predictability.
The evolution
The opening hits fast. Pineapple, black pepper, a cool juniper bite, it's bright, a little sweet, and impossible to ignore in the early stages. Then the geranium and sage arrive, and the fragrance stops trying to impress. The pineapple fades without disappearing entirely; it becomes a background sweetness as the aromatic heart takes over. Cashmeran does its invisible work here. You don't smell it, you feel it, a soft warmth that bridges fruit and leather. The base announces itself gradually. Leather and sandalwood arrive together, grounded by patchouli, with vanilla adding a creaminess that keeps everything close to the skin. This is when Platinum becomes intimate. The drydown lasts into evening: vanilla, wood, a ghost of leather on fabric. On most skin, the fragrance lingers for six to eight hours, becoming quieter on the second day as the base notes linger longest.
Cultural impact
Platinum delivers complexity without demanding expertise to appreciate it. The sweet-fresh-spicy profile has broad appeal, working equally well for someone building a collection or someone who just wants one reliable fragrance. The pineapple opening gives it approachability, a familiar brightness that invites wearers in before the deeper notes reveal themselves. It's the kind of fragrance that feels at home in multiple contexts, whether a casual outing or something more deliberate.
