The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
AYOND introduced Vesper Bloom as part of their entry into fragrance, carrying the same formulation philosophy that shaped the brand: naturally derived ingredients, full traceability, and a commitment to ingredient-level transparency. When they moved into scent, they brought that ethos along, favoring real botanical extractions and steering clear of synthetic substitutes. Vesper Bloom is the white floral in the lineup, the one that leans into moonlit aromatics rather than sunlit brightness. The name itself draws from vesper, the evening hour, the time of day when white flowers release their richest, densest scent. It's a bloom that belongs to twilight: heavy with pollen, heady with nectar, opening fully when the light fades and the air cools.
The composition earns its weight from its centerpiece materials. Tuberose absolute and jasmine sambac absolute carry the heart, meaning the indolic warmth you get from actual blossoms, that dense, almost rubbery undertone that only true extraction preserves. The base of sandalwood and cedar gives the white flowers somewhere woody to land, keeping them from floating off into pure sweetness. That balance, creamy floral over dry wood, is what stops this from reading as another springtime floral. It carries a gravity that feels intentional, a weight in the sillage that pulls you back in.
The evolution
Pink grapefruit and bergamot open with a bright, almost sparkling citrus hit that establishes the scent's initial register before the florals take over. The tuberose rolls in heavy, creamy and slightly green, joined by jasmine sambac that adds a honeyed, almost animal warmth. Together they dominate the early phase of the wear, their richness slowly absorbing the brighter top notes. As the composition settles, the sandalwood starts pulling things downward, grounding the indolic sweetness of the florals with a soft, milky woodiness. The cedar sharpens the edges slightly while vanilla smooths them out, adding a faint sweetness that reads more like skin warmth than confection. The drydown is primarily sandalwood and vanilla: warm, woody, quietly sweet, and persistent. What remains in the final hours is a faint, creamy sandalwood presence, more suggestion than statement.
Cultural impact
Vesper Bloom sits within AYOND's 2024 fragrance debut, a collection that treats natural-origin perfumery as a serious olfactory pursuit rather than a minimalist checkbox. The use of true absolutes rather than reconstructed florals gives the composition a density and authenticity that sets it apart from lighter, more transparent white florals on the market. It reads as a fragrance made for people who care about what's inside the bottle, who want their scent to carry weight and character without relying on synthetic shortcuts.
