The beginning
The Note di Colonia line takes the house's founding 1916 creation and reimagines it through different olfactory lenses. Released in 2017, Note di Colonia IV pushes the series into warmer territory, toward resin, amber, and earth. The intent was to extend the house's legacy not by repeating it, but by exploring how the classic structure meets deeper, richer materials. The series continues with this fourth addition, moving from the bright opening into something more substantial. The balance between the familiar citrus foundation and these warmer materials defines where this fragrance lives, creating something that honors its predecessors while reaching in a different direction.
The combination of labdanum and opoponax in a Colonia context makes a strong statement. Both bring warmth and depth, opoponax contributes sweetness and softness, labdanum adds a dry, leathery edge. Neither is subtle, yet they work together in the composition. Turkish rose provides floral body at the heart of the fragrance, and alongside the other materials, creates something grounded and substantial rather than purely delicate. The evolution
