Euan McCall
Euan McCall grew up amid the fragrant rows of his grandparents' garden centre in Scotland, where rosemary, lilac and damp earth formed his earliest memories of scent. A teenage fascination with his grandmother's perfume collection nudged him toward chemistry, and he later earned a formal apprenticeship at a renowned London fragrance house. Over nearly fifteen years he honed his craft, moving from lab technician to lead creator on artistic commissions. In 2019 he co‑founded Jorum Studio with partner Chloe Mullen, turning his private laboratory into a boutique that releases limited‑edition scents under his own name. The launch of the avant‑garde fragrance Apocalypse, created for visual artist Jon Thomson, marked his first public breakthrough and signalled a new voice in contemporary perfumery.

How Euan composes
McCall favors a minimalist palette that lets a single accord breathe. He often builds around a dominant natural note—such as pine, ambergris or violet leaf—and layers supporting ingredients in thin, translucent washes. His technique includes precise temperature control during maceration, which preserves the freshness of volatile top notes. He prefers high‑grade absolutes, cold‑pressed essential oils, and sustainably harvested animalic materials, using them sparingly to add depth without overwhelming the composition. The result is a clear, focused fragrance that reveals new facets over time.
Philosophy
What drives Euan
McCall treats each bottle as a personal narrative, seeking to translate memory and imagination into scent. He believes that a fragrance should act like a quiet conversation, inviting the wearer to recall a forgotten moment or to imagine a new one. Materials become characters in his stories; he selects them for the emotions they evoke rather than for trend compliance. This focus on authenticity drives him to source rare absolutes and to experiment with unconventional accords, always aiming for a scent that feels both intimate and unmistakably his.
