    Christiane Plos

Christiane Plos entered the fragrance world through the research labs of a Swiss house, where she learned to translate raw aroma chemicals into elegant accords. After several years of formulation work, she earned a place at DSM‑Firmenich, one of the industry’s leading innovators. A brief stint at Givaudan broadened her palette and introduced her to a network of creative collaborators. Her first public credit, the aromatic fougère SO PURE MEN, earned praise for its crisp, masculine clarity and signaled her arrival as a distinct voice. Since then she has added a dozen more signatures to the Firmenich catalogue, ranging from the amber‑rich ELIXIR CRYSTAL to the watery aromatic of BLEU BYZANTIN. Colleagues describe her as methodical, curious, and unafraid to test the limits of traditional structures.

    The signature

    How Christiane composes

Christiane favors a clean, linear architecture built around a strong central accord. In masculine projects she often starts with a bright citrus or aromatic herb, then anchors the composition with a mineral‑toned base. For oriental pieces she layers amber, labdanum, and soft woods, letting each layer emerge in its own time. Her signature technique includes micro‑modulation of diffusion, using trace amounts of volatile aldehydes to lift the opening without overwhelming the heart. She regularly experiments with marine accords derived from calone and with sustainably harvested oud, blending them into modern, approachable forms.

    Philosophy

    What drives Christiane

Plos treats each brief as a puzzle, seeking the precise balance between structure and emotion. She believes a fragrance must reveal itself step by step, rewarding the wearer with subtle shifts rather than a single flash. Her laboratory routine mixes rigorous analytical testing with spontaneous scent‑drawing sessions, allowing intuition to guide the final blend. Sustainability informs her ingredient choices; she favors responsibly sourced naturals and modern synthetics that reduce ecological impact. Above all, she aims to craft scents that feel personal, as if they were written for a single moment in the wearer’s life.
