The house called on Lucas Sieuzac to compose a reinterpretation of the Reflection signature, richer, denser, and resolved over four months of maceration. The 45% perfume oil concentration gave the perfumer room to work without compromise: bolder spice in the top, more textured florals at the heart, a base that draws on Amouage's signature frankincense without overwhelming the composition. This wasn't a refresh. It was a deepening.

The structure here is unusual. Most concentrations amplify, more throw, more presence. Reflection 45 does the opposite in its sillage: intimate, close, almost shy. But on the skin, the density is extraordinary. The combination of iris powder with vanilla and benzoin creates a warm, almost gourmand base that most woody-aromatic fragrances never attempt. The frankincense in the drydown isn't the loud Hojari smoke of Interlude, it's measured, threaded through cedar and sandalwood, giving depth without drama. It's the kind of composition that rewards patience: what arrives quietly stays longest.

The opening hits with an aromatic burst, clary sage, lavender, and cardamom sharpened by pink pepper and juniper. It's clean, herbaceous, almost bracing. Thirty minutes in, the florals arrive: jasmine and neroli lifting the iris, which comes through powdery and slightly root-like rather than sweet. The vanilla and tonka bean arrive next, softening everything. Then the base takes over, frankincense threading through cedar and sandalwood, with patchouli and vetiver adding an earthy, slightly smoky foundation. By hour four, the projection has moderated to a whisper, but the warmth remains: benzoin, iris, and a clean woody residue that clings to fabric overnight.

Reflection 45 occupies a specific position in the Amouage catalog, a concentrated, macerated expression of a beloved house signature. Wearers describe it as denser and more resinous than the original Reflection Man, with the white floral heart muted by frankincense and resins. The 45% concentration is remarkable in theory, though the sillage remains intimate, a fact that divides opinion. What everyone agrees on: the drydown is exceptional. Few modern masculine fragrances achieve this level of warmth and complexity in their final hours.
