Eros Parfum arrived in 2021 as the latest expression of Versace's most iconic masculine line. Olivier Pescheux, the nose behind some of the house's most memorable flankers, brought his signature depth to the fragrance. The original Eros EDT had always been defined by its mentholated brightness, a signature move that became instantly recognizable. The Parfum concentration represents a deliberate shift in construction, allowing the house's characteristic crispness to give way to something richer and more enveloping. The fragrance opens with that familiar mentholated quality, bright and assertive, before settling into a deeper, more intimate character. Warmth builds quietly beneath the surface, creating a sensation that feels both familiar and distinctly more sophisticated.

What makes this work is the structural choice: mint stays, but it's no longer the whole story. Green apple in the heart gives the composition a fruity sweetness that bridges the fresh top and the warm base. Then Pomarose, a synthetic rose-like molecule with apple and honey facets, adds something subtly modern, a little unexpected in a masculine context. The tonka and benzoin in the base aren't afterthoughts; they're load-bearing. This is a fragrance that knows what it wants to be and commits.

The opening hits mint and black pepper within seconds, that characteristic Versace crispness, immediate and confident. Mint takes the lead in those early moments, its cool bite softened by the spice of black pepper that cuts through with just enough warmth. Then the heart begins to emerge, green apple and geranium stepping forward with lavender giving it that classic fougère architecture. The handoff isn't dramatic; the initial freshness fades like a handshake releasing, and the florals step in quietly, bringing a subtle sweetness that balances the earlier intensity. As the drydown takes over, vanilla and tonka arrive together, sweet and warm, with benzoin adding a resinous depth underneath that gives the base a slightly syrupy quality.
