Each fragrance was conceived as an individual statement piece rather than part of a house signature. By 2016, Tom Ford had built Private Blend into the defining collection for those who wanted their scent to be noticed without shouting. The original Ombré Leather debuted as part of this collection, expanding the leather narrative that began with Tuscan Leather in 2007. But Ombré Leather 16 was something different. Created by perfumer Sonia Constant, it took the same leather heart and softened it, added light, created shade where there had been only shadow.

The '16' designation refers to the year Ombré Leather first appeared in the Private Blend lineup, though the fragrance persisted beyond that. What makes this version remarkable is its restraint. Where Tuscan Leather announces itself with authority, Ombré Leather 16 suggests. The jasmine sambac is the key.
