The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Caelestis is the latest chapter in Wesker's The Alchemist's Dream collection, a 2025 release. The name itself is the key: Caelestis means heavenly in Latin, and the brand built this fragrance around a specific tension, the purity of a clear morning against the boundless freedom of the night sky. The accord explores how light behaves differently depending on the hour, shifting from sharp and luminous at first encounter to something softer and more diffuse as the day wears on. There's a deliberate push and pull in the construction, where bright citrus and green notes give way to warmer floral heart notes, and those in turn dissolve into something earthier and more grounded.
The note structure here is unusual for a fragrance that opens this bright. Citron and cypress create an immediate clarity, sharp, almost crystalline, but the heart of mimosa, neroli, and ylang-ylang introduces a honeyed warmth that complicates the picture. It's not a clean scent pretending to be complex. It's a complex scent that refuses to announce itself. The ambergris in the base is the tell: animalic, marine, slightly dirty in the best way. Combined with frankincense and juniper wood, it gives the drydown a resinous quality that anchors the brightness.
The evolution
The opening doesn't tease. Citron hits immediately, bright and fizzy, with cypress adding a dry green undertone that keeps it from becoming sweet too fast. Lily of the valley sits in the background, translucent, doing quiet work. The florals arrive warm and unhurried. Mimosa and neroli create a honeycomb warmth, sun-warmed skin, not a vase of flowers. Ylang-ylang deepens the sweetness into something creamier, almost tropical. The drydown strips away the sweetness entirely. Ambergris and frankincense remain longest, with juniper wood adding a dry coniferous base. What settles on the skin is earthy, slightly smoky, with a marine undertone from the ambergris. The combination creates a smooth creaminess that reviewers have noted, a quality that speaks to careful blending rather than dramatic effect. It's a fragrance that asks you to lean in rather than announce yourself.
Cultural impact
Caelestis appeals to wearers who gravitate toward restraint over projection. Reviews consistently describe it as intimate and warm, suited for close encounters rather than room-filling presence. The fragrance has drawn comparisons to established niche compositions in the fresh-floral-woody category. Particular appreciation has emerged for how the ambergris drydown distinguishes it from more conventional options. Wearers seem to find it versatile enough for different settings and seasons, though spring and fall responses have been especially enthusiastic.
