The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Lucid Locations launched in 2019 as part of Wakeheart's debut collection. The brand's own words frame the scent as a practice of presence, immersing yourself in the present, observing your surroundings, appreciating every moment. Knowing you belong, no matter where you are. It's less about evoking a specific place than about the sensation of arriving somewhere and feeling at home. The fragrance translates that emotional clarity into a composition built around warmth, softness, and gentle luminosity. Apricot blossom, blue lotus, and cashmere wood were chosen to create an atmosphere rather than a performance. The juice itself is pale gold, almost sun-bleached, and the way the notes settle on skin feels less like a statement and more like a settling in.
What makes this composition interesting is the restraint. Here the blue lotus sits between apricot blossom and jasmine, lending a translucent, almost meditative quality to the heart. Cashmere wood and white amber ground the composition without weight, creating that close-to-skin effect that defines the scent. The pairing of apricot blossom with mandarin orange leaf in the opening is unexpected, the leaf adds a green, almost bitter edge to what could otherwise be purely sweet. It's a small structural choice that keeps the fragrance from collapsing into syrup.
The evolution
The opening announces itself with apricot blossom and mandarin orange leaf, a brief green-fruity shimmer that reads like sunlight through gauze. The opening then steps aside for blue lotus and jasmine, which arrive not as bold florals but as a soft, almost humid presence, like steam from a cup held close. The jasmine here is sheer rather than indolic, more breath than bloom. Eventually, the florals recede enough to let cashmere wood and white amber take over. This is where the fragrance becomes what it truly is. The drydown is warm, slightly musky, and incredibly close to skin, settling into a soft amber presence that lingers with quiet persistence. The transition from the bright, almost translucent top notes to the grounded warmth of the base feels natural and unforced, like the shift from afternoon to early evening.
Cultural impact
Lucid Locations occupies a particular position in today's fragrance landscape, though defining exactly where it fits isn't straightforward. It doesn't announce itself with the loud, attention-grabbing openings that characterize many contemporary launches, and it doesn't rely on aggressive projection to make its presence known. Instead, it offers a composed, quietly modern floral-woody profile that rewards proximity over performance. The blue lotus note, unusual in mainstream perfumery, gives the composition an unexpected center of gravity, something more contemplative than the typical sweet-floral constructions that saturate the market.
