The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Vivamor Parfums emerged in France in 2022 with the premise that fragrance can serve as personal narrative, each release targeting a specific mood or memory. The brand began with bold oriental work before expanding outward. Caramel Pop arrived in 2023 as the house embraced gourmand territory with unusual specificity. Rather than a general edible direction, the brief apparently called for something cinema-specific: the particular sweetness of caramel popcorn, that hybrid of sugar and butter experienced in the dark. Perfumer Sidonie Lancesseur, working in an extrait concentration, had the material latitude to commit fully to that concept without the usual dilution required for mainstream formats.
The note selection in Caramel Pop reflects a considered approach to gourmand composition. Caramel popcorn and caramel in the opening and heart maintain thematic continuity while the addition of chestnut develops the concept beyond simple confectionery. Orchid functions as a bridge note, its creaminess complementing the caramel base while introducing a floral dimension. The drydown utilizes vanilla and benzoin together, a pairing that creates warm amber without the resinous heaviness of pure benzoin alone. Cedarwood grounds this otherwise sweet structure, offering correction where necessary.
The evolution
The opening of Caramel Pop announces its agenda without hesitation. Bergamot provides momentary brightness before caramel popcorn settles in as the dominant impression. The heart phase introduces orchid, which contributes creamy floral nuances, and chestnut, which adds a roasted, almost smoky dimension that prevents the scent from becoming simply caramel. As the drydown arrives, vanilla emerges as the primary voice while Siam benzoin lends sticky, resinous warmth reminiscent of warm amber. Cedarwood arrives last, delivering dry woody texture that grounds everything and provides the faintest structural memory once the sweeter notes fade. This arc moves from theatrical sweetness toward something marginally more complex.
Cultural impact
Caramel Pop sits comfortably in the gourmand category alongside fragrances like What About Pop and Salt Caramel. Wearers describe it as a crowd-pleaser, sweet enough to attract attention, warm enough to wear through autumn and winter. The popcorn note tends to generate conversation: it is specific enough to be distinctive without feeling gimmicky. Those who enjoy it tend to rate longevity highly, with the vanilla-benzoin base extending the wear across a full day on most skin types.
