Heritage
A house, in its own words
Tory Burch launched her namesake label in Manhattan in 2004, drawing on a blend of classic American sportswear and a global sensibility. The fashion house quickly grew into a multi‑category brand, adding accessories, footwear and home goods. In 2015 the company announced its first fragrance, a collaborative effort with Karen Khoury of Estée Lauder Companies and International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF). The debut scent carried the Tory Burch name and was distributed through Estée Lauder’s beauty network, marking the brand’s first foray beyond apparel. A second fragrance, Tory Burch Absolu, followed later that year, expanding the olfactory portfolio. The next notable release, Just Like Heaven, arrived in 2018 and was positioned as a lighter, floral composition aimed at everyday wear. 2022 saw two new additions – Sublime Rose, a modern take on the classic rose note, and Electric Sky, a bright, citrus‑driven scent. 2024 proved prolific, delivering Daring Rose, Enduring Leather and Luminous Musk, each reflecting a distinct facet of the brand’s lifestyle narrative. The most recent entry, Sublime Eau de Toilette, is slated for 2026 and continues the pattern of seasonal refreshes. Throughout its fragrance history the label has maintained a consistent release cadence, using each new scent to echo the broader evolution of the fashion house while staying rooted in its original design ethos. The fragrance team at Tory Burch approaches scent as an extension of the label’s design philosophy – clean lines, accessible luxury and a sense of optimism. Creative briefs emphasize balance between timeless ingredients and contemporary twists, allowing each perfume to feel familiar yet fresh. The brand prioritises inclusivity, seeking compositions that appeal to a wide age range without sacrificing sophistication. Sustainability is woven into the development process; packaging materials are chosen for recyclability and the company works with fragrance houses that adhere to IFRA safety standards. Rather than chasing trend cycles, the house aims to create scents that can sit alongside a wardrobe for years, mirroring the label’s approach to clothing, which favors versatile pieces that transition from day to night. Collaboration remains central: the partnership with Estée Lauder provides distribution expertise, while IFF contributes technical know‑how, ensuring that each launch meets both creative and regulatory expectations.
